Therapy, play, and corporate training!

Roya Dedeaux

I've been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for some time now. When I started, I knew I would want to work for myself - not for a hospital, not for an agency. I knew private practice was in my future. I love the chance to meet clients where they are at, and I have been able to pursue the niches that I think are the most helpful (hint: usually something to do with play and art.)

As I work with my clients, I also began to see a pattern... I was working with a high level of intelligent, driven women who were trying to be their best selves in the workplace. So much of our sessions were spent on how to navigate struggles with employees, imposter syndrome, the feelings that came up when they took risks or steps for advancement, and how to handle family members who weren't as supportive as they could be.

I found myself wishing I could go into their workplaces and help give everyone skills to work together better. Lacking assertiveness? I could help with that! Wanting to communicate better with a large group of different people? I know some tools that could work! Figuring out how to prioritize, set boundaries, and do other time management? That's my jam! Then it clicked. I CAN go to workplaces to help businesses learn these incredibly important soft skills! So I did.

A few month ago I launched my "Play with Purpose" business training, and it has been such a rewarding shift. It is one of the most energizing and exciting things to show up in a new place with new people, and get to use hands-on activities and workshop-style exploration to help the people there function better as a team. I pull from my roots as a Recreation and Leisure specialist and event planner, I bring a touch of the touchy-feely therapist, and the end result is a dynamic, playful training that is both lighthearted and enjoyable, and seriously effective.

I'm a big believer in asking directly for what you need. I am going to practice what I preach. There are two things you can do right now.

The first takes about five minutes. If you work in any capacity, as an employee, manager, owner, etc. Please take this survey. I am adding to my research, and appreciate your input! Please share! My lofty goal is 10,000 responses!

The second is to connect me with your HR rep. I haven't met a company yet that I haven't enjoyed working with! Send them to this page, and I hope I get to work with you soon.
