"This game was exactly what I needed on days I was a little anxious or depressed. It helped to have a goal without any pressure from anyone else. It got the ball rolling." --K.C.

I'm Roya Dedeaux

(rhymes with play-dough)

I’m a licensed therapist, author, and speaker. I’ve worked my whole life helping parents release fear and find joy in the places their kids take them.

When I say “whole life” I mean it! I left public school at the ripe old age of 10 because conventional education wasn’t working for me. I left 4th grade and never went back.

When I graduated with a degree in Recreation &Leisure Studies from CSULB, I left with the academic language for what I knew deep in my bones:
The path to children’s success is through supporting their interests.

I wrote Connect with Courage and continue to offer monthly parenting webinars because now, as a parent myself, I recognize just how hard it can be to make changes on your own – even when you know it’s what your children need.

Learn More About Me

I want to support my kids - but I'm worried about the impact of so much screen time.

With anxiety and depression rates in kids and teenagers rising - it's SO HARD as parents to know what helps and what hurts.

Are your kids turning to video games for their awesome benefits? Or hiding out online because they're doubting themselves in other arenas?

Are their online friendships healthy and supportive? Or are they abusive, manipulative, or even predatory?

This webinar is designed to help you sort through the good, the bad, and the ugly of technology - and how it impacts your kid's mental health.

For my birthday this last Sunday @corbinsdad fulfilled one of my wishlist items by gifting me the Venture Forth game by @royadedeaux ! We went on 2 mild adventures that day. This is adventure #1 with our sons. We went to our local sculpture park, wore hats and helped the park by all donating a little something. #ventureforthgame

The webinar really helped put my mind at ease a little tonight regarding my daughters and their gaming on their switches and roblox.  It also let me feel a little more confident in allowing them to have a little more freedom.  I ordered your book and am now following you on several platforms.  Thank you Roya!!

Improve your kid's mental health by...

  • Using video games, social media, and videos as a way to connect with them, rather than another source of conflict.

  • Helping them see what positive qualities and strengths they use in online spaces and how to generalize that to in-person situations.

  • Getting rid of anything that prevents you from being their biggest supporter and advocate.

  • Processing your own biggest fears so that you can have constructive conversations with them that don't make things worse.
